First Post

Seeing as this is my first EVER post on here, I thought I would start this big mess as I intend to continue, with a few song recommendations.

Now first of all these are mostly relatively slow songs, which are perfect for chilling and/or pretending to be in a music video whilst looking dramatically out of the car window (trust me I’ve tested them many a time).

And secondly, most of the songs I’ll probably recommend listening to on here will be songs I listen to daily or songs I stumble across whilst scrolling through Spotify, so suggestions from others would be much appreciated to get a variety of bops recognised.

So with that all said, let’s get to the recommending!

This one’s quite easy to fall asleep too, not too slow, not too upbeat. The bass line is pretty smooth too, making it an overall chill song.

The song is pretty much summarised by the title – it’s a mushy love song backed up by a cutesie background melody. The length of this is only 1:09 so it ends just as you’re getting into it- a great filler song for those love playlists on Valentine’s Day or just in general.

Starts off with a recording of a speech on what man is capable of before dropping into a very chill bass line and slow paced song. A very relatable song when you’re prone to overthinking things or feel like your life is falling apart.

Definitely a song to cry to, this song is slow and consists of intense feels and strong lyrics about not being okay and being broken whilst hiding this, finally addressing the situation with their ‘babe’. The vocals are definitely from the soul and hit home even when you can’t really relate to the lyrics.

Even though this is more of an upbeat song than the rest, it’s still pretty chill and is worth a listen. The harmonies make this good to listen to with headphones.

I cannot stress this enough. The BASS LINE IS AWESOME. It starts off with a recording of a girl’s voice and then from then the guitar and Daniel’s voice take you off into chill land. The bass riff at 1:10 is absolutely stunning and I can guarantee that I’ve listened to that specific part at least 50 times 🙂 Towards the end, the song drops into a more soothing tone and loses the bass but is still absolutely gorgeous. If you’re were only going to listen to one song on this list, this should be the one to go for.

A contrast to all of Slaves’ other songs such as The Hunter and Where’s your car Debbie?, the song from which the are you satisfied album was named is a very calm, relaxed song that, like In Love is very short, being only 1:31. Not many lyrics other than the title, but the mix of acoustic guitar and piano definitely makes this song.

A lot of harmonising and a good melody that you can get behind. This song could probably stay stuck in your head for days thanks to its catchy and repeated chorus. There’s no drums or percussion, only guitars and vocals, which makes this song amazing. Plus, there’s two parts to it making this the ultimate song.

And lastly,

Another Daniel Caesar song. It’s full of harmonies and lovely lyrics that are awesome to listen to when dozing off or reading a love story. Would definitely recommend for adding into a sleep or reading playlist.
